We lose an hour of sleep tonight. Daylight Savings time starts for the summer at 2:00 am. So set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed and you’ll be OK in the morning. But if you forget, you’ll be running at least an hour late all day!

Fat Fingers

There is a kiosk at Sams Club that sells cell phones. I think they have good deals and the guy in front of my negotiated himself a nce bargain on a fancy new phone. I’ve always wanted to keep the phones simple. I am not interested in sending text messages or even taking photos with my phone. I tried texting once, it wasn’t pretty. My fingers could not deal with the itsy bitsy keys.

Bought this today for my van. I’m going to put it on the dashboard to keep me company on the road. Her skirt actually swings. Loving it.

Bad day

July 4th was a bad day here in Nashville for many reasons, first off local hero Steve McNair was shot and killed by his 20 year old girlfriend. It rained on the fireworks downtown, we had a tornado warning and a lot of sever lightning during the fireworks show. Now that a couple of days have passed I have a few things to say about both these news items. First off if Steve McNair had been home with his loving wife and family he would be alive today, and this will be my last comment on this tragedy. Second off if the city of Nashville cared about anything besides saving or wasting money they would of postponed the fireworks show. The bad weather had been forecast to hit the city during the fireworks show and they went on anyway. Very dangerous stunt.

Trip

This week I had an extra day off and we loaded up and took our grandson to the aquarium in Chattanooga. We have been there before and it is a trip that the whole family loves and best of all it is only a two hour drive and that is a major plus at least it is for me. I drive 10 hours a day for work and driving 4-5 hours for a road trip is not in my plans at all. We had a lot of fun and even with one butt head attack David had a lot of fun too. I look forward to our next trip this summer.

Holiday

We will be going to the lake for the Independence Day holiday this year and I can not wait. It will be the first time that my grandson David gets to test out his swimming ability, we made sure that he had swimming lessons from the YMCA after school was out this year so he would be ready to go on this trip with us. I feel that it is very important for a small child to be able to swim in case he falls in the lake. A safe trip is the main goal for this and any other trip we go on with David.

Meatballs

Tonight my wife out did herself, she made homemade meatballs and man did they ever taste good. I know she used ground beef and pork because I bought it at the store this afternoon, but I have no idea what else she puts in her meatballs, it must be a deep dark family secret because she is not letting the cat out of the bag at all. I know I am one very lucky man, she is the best cook in the world and she loves me what else could I ask for?

Lake

Finally got to spend a weekend on the lake and man did we have a good time. Of course it rained on us and we got to see some beautiful lightning and the bugs were very hungry, but we had fun and that is all that matters, this week it looks like it might rain out the trip to the lake but we will hold our breath and hope for some sunshine this weekend too. The boat ran very nice after sitting all winter and that was a plus I figured I would spend all weekend fixing the boat but it went well and it bodes well for the summer ahead.

Hot already

The month of June has just started and it is already hot, reaching to over 90 the last two days. I hate to think how hot it will be when the hot months of July and August get here. The bad part about summer here in Nashville is the humidity and that is already very high and miserable. when you get to 90 degrees and have 90% humidity you can cut the air with a knife. I can hardly wait for that to get here, I hope you caught the sarcasm there. The hot sticky days are my only gripe about the weather this week, join me next week I will of thought of something else to gripe about by then.
